This anthology of consists of all three issues of Contention , a hardcore fanzine published by musician Matthew Smith. Smith, a West Chester native, was an active member of the southeastern Pennsylvania hardcore scene, and released records by local bands under the label Contention while publishing a fanzine of the same name. Issues include Fall 1996, Spring 1997, and Spring 1999. Includes interviews and articles with Ignite, Lifetime, Crud is a Cult, Half Off, Hands Tied, Redemption 87, Youth of Today, and Vorhees, along with reviews, record pressing info, columns, opinions, photographs, and much more. This anthology provides a valuable resource for designers and fans of hardcore, offering a glimpse into the DIY aesthetic, layout techniques, and graphic choices prevalent in the 90s hardcore punk scene.
