Aarnio rose to international prominence with the Ball chair, and has ever since created a vast number of colorful and bold design classics, such as the Pastil Chair, the Bubble Chair, the VSOP Chair, the Pony, the Puppy, the Tomato and the Formula. In recent years Aarnio has been widely appreciated also as a lamp designer. Aarnio’s works are included in the collections of the most prestigious museums in the world, such as Victoria and Albert Museum in London, MOMA in New York and Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein. Eero Aarnio – Designer of Colour and Joy sheds light on Aarnio’s immense production and on his life as well as on the industry’s compelling characteristics from the 1960’s. The book is made in collaboration with the Helsinki Design Museum celebrating Aarnio’s exceptionally productive 50-year career with an inclusive exhibition in 2016.
