By Eric Hurtgen The last 15 years of smartphone technology brought unprecedented change to the world of photography. In a similar way that the rangefinder camera democratized the photograph in the early twentieth century, the smartphone put easily-disseminated digital photography in the hands of anyone with a phone. Like the rangefinder before it, this technological advance presented new opportunities and new problems. On the backdrop of the increasing sophistication of smartphone-created digital images, artist and graphic designer Eric Hurtgen began making photographs that responded to some of the problems and opportunities that he saw in this new branch of the photographic medium. This small, smartphone-sized book is the result of nearly a decade of that practice. Published by Sunnyside Projects, 2024 Printed in a limited edition of 100 copies Softcover, 50 pages, b&w images, 3 × 5 inches
