(re)existence

by

By Joyce Shi “The object is a secret; it is the space we inhabit, and in it lies the essence of our dreams.” (re)existence revisits Joyce Shi's 2021 project, “Objects, Memories, Death, Us.” Human beings exist upon and make sense of ourselves through the objects that surround us and reflect our nature. Things we consume, purchase, keep, collect, things that are given to us, things that identify us... all are extremely personal, while these objects also maintain a neutral perspective as they are, of course, mere objects. (re)existence is a manifestation of how we all re-exist through objective evidence, a private library, yet also a universal ideology.
