Steven Ehrlich: A Dynamic Serenity (House Design)

In his two decades of practice in Los Angeles, Steven Ehrlich has won acclaim for a range of work of great depth and breadth - encompassing master plans and commercial remodels, artists’ studios, schools, colleges, libraries, retail, and offices - all distinguished by a consistency of thought and a diversity of expression. He has planned, built or remodeled more than 50 houses, 11 of which are detailed here. This publication shows how he has balanced continuity and innovation in these projects, which were completed or begun in the past decade. Each of the three groupings represents a different theme: designing for narrow urban sites; remodeling and extending existing houses; and creating boldly articulated residences that expand into the landscape.
