Ulrich Erben

by

Born in Düsseldorf in 1940 and raised in Rome, from 1958 to 1965 Ulrich Erben studied at the Academies of Hamburg, Venice and Berlin. His research sets out from landscape and still life, through works that are gradually and increasingly concentrated on the link between geometry and nature, with a particular interest in architecture and the dimensions of space. The book documents the artist’s oeuvre over the past twenty years, with special reference to his work on canvas and on walls. Erben’s most significant exhibitions include: Museum Folkwang, Essen; Kölnischer Kunstverein, Cologne; Galerie Piltzer, Paris, and Ginza Five, Tokyo. In 1976 he took part in Documenta VI.
