What is the Internet doing to photography? And what is photography doing with the Internet? Connection deals with the way we communicate with images today, how image search works, and how our own - artistic - gaze is changing. In large-scale photographic objects composed of several images, Viktoria Binschtok combines associations made on the net via image search algorithms with her own personal photographs. The result is a decelerated engagement with the content of our contemporary world of images, detached from fleeting clicks on the screen. Moscow-born artist VIKTORIA BINSCHTOK (*1972) studied Photography and Media Arts at the Academy of Visual Arts Leipzig. Today, she lives and works in Berlin. In addition to institutional solo exhibitions at the Museum Folkwang Essen, C/O Berlin and Kunstmuseum Bonn, she has participated in numerous international group exhibitions, including Centre Pompidou Metz and Paris, Fondazione Prada Milano, Pier 24 San Francisco, Arts Santa Monica Barcelona, Bergen Kunsthall Norway, Pinakothek der Moderne Munich, Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt and Centre de la photographie Genève.
