A collection of 600 arcade video game marquees from 1980 to 2020. Marquees are the part of an arcade cabinet that displays the game's title, located above the monitor. Functioning in much the same way as a billboard — and often backlit to advertise the game — marquees were a chance for games to attract attention and players. Marquees were made from a variety of materials, depending on the age of the machine. Early games sported glass marquees. Plexiglass was introduced in 1987, and in the 1990s, cheaper plastic began to be utilized. Marquees often featured custom artwork and typography. This collection is a terrific resource for those interested in the history of video games, arcade game play, and design. Published by Masala Noir Softcover, 150 pages, full color, 5.25 × 7 inches
