Gen Z

by

Employing a wide range of visual languages, these young artists from Generation Z – broadly defined as those born between the mid-1990s and 2010 - delve into themes of belonging: the transformation of home and family ties, the representation of body and gender, and the coexistence of multiple identities. These works reflect an urgent need for representation and a deep desire to tell personal stories in a world in constant flux. Personal narratives intertwine to create a vibrant collective energy – a rich tapestry of experiences, cultures, and perspectives, where the personal becomes political. Contrary to the continuous and ephemeral flow of images circulating on social media, these artists create elaborate, free, and critical works that deconstruct visual norms, question dominant narratives, and invent new iconographies. Whether they live in Shanghai, Cape Town, Amsterdam, Paris, Lausanne, London, New York, or Delhi, photography allows them to express powerful personal narratives, but also an incandescent collective energy.Featured artists:Delali Ayivi, Chloé Azzopardi, Hidhir Badaruddin, Daveed Baptiste, Clara Belleville, Sara Benabdallah,Jeremy Chih-Hao Chuang, River Claure, Thaddé Comar, Matthieu Croizier, Sara De Brito Faustino, Alina Frieske, Claudia Fuggetti, Florian Gatzweiler, Sascha Levin, Devashish Gaur, Valerie Geissbühler Pacheco, Toma Gerzha, Mahalia Taje Giotto, Salomé Gomis-Trezise, Lea Greub,Pia-Paulina Guilmoth, Marvel Harris, Thembinkosi Hlatshwayo, Lorane Hochstätter, Ben Hubert,Francesca Hummler, Matej Jurcevic, Lisa Karnadi, Nur Aishah Kenton, Mayssa Khoury, Ahmed Khirelsid,Maria Kniaginin-Ciszewska, Jude Lartey, Phuong Nguyen Le, Quil Lemons, Yun Ping Li, Margaret Liang,Vuyo Mabheka, Isabella Madrid, Luna Mahoux, Gabriela Marciniak, Dimakatso Mathopy, Sara Messinger,Steven Molina Contreras, Cheryl Mukherji, Daniel Obase, Alice Pallot, Laurence Philomène,Soyeohang Rai, Carla Rossi, Emma Sarpaniemi, Rachel Seidu, Faitmazohra Serri, Suwa ShinCharlie Tallott, D.M.
