Henri Matisse Nu bleu, I–IV Stoneware Dinner Plates – Set of 4

Henri Matisse’s works from his 1940s cut-outs series—the subject of a groundbreaking MoMA exhibition in 2014–2015—have been reproduced on this set of four dinner plates from East Fork Pottery. Crafted from formed and fired stoneware in North Carolina, these plates feature the artwork Nu bleu, I–IV (Blue Nudes) in Matisse’s vivid blue, bringing lively shapes and conversation starters to your table. The decals on the plates are produced in France. The plates’ four different cut-outs sourced from Nu bleu, I–IV —bold harmonies of curves, capturing the body in poetic states—were selected by Alex Matisse, the great-grandson of Henri and founder of East Fork Pottery. These plates are reduction-fired in large gas kilns and made for everyday use—they’re food-safe, non-toxic and made to last. They can also be used as decorative wall hangings. Differences in glaze applications on each plate may occur, making each one a unique piece. To prolong the life of your plates, it’s recommended that you hand wash them only, and do not put them in the microwave or oven. With constant use, plates and bowls might accumulate mild cutlery marks. These can be buffed off with warm water and scouring powder.
