Ana Mendieta

Ana Mendieta was a Cuban-American artist known for her multidisciplinary practice spanning performance, sculpture, painting, photography, and video. Born in Havana in 1948, she relocated to the United States in 1961. She is widely recognized for her earth-body artworks and remains one of the most influential figures in post-World War II contemporary art.
