Submission

A walkthrough for publishers preparing new titles and catalog data for 2manybooks — flat covers, edition metadata, and how to get started.

Last revised: July 29, 2026

Publishers and imprints can submit new titles and catalog data so editions appear correctly for collectors cataloging physical libraries on 2manybooks.

2manybooks is the home for book collectors — scan, digitize, and catalog your library, then explore what collectors are sharing, collecting, and trading (Discogs for books). Accurate bibliographic records and flat front covers help collectors match the books they own.

There is no public self-serve catalog uploader yet. Submissions are reviewed with the 2manybooks team. Use this page to prepare materials and start the conversation.

1. Who this is for

This guide is for publishers, imprints, museum presses, and catalog partners who want their physical editions represented in the 2manybooks catalog.

It is not the path for collectors adding books they own, or for marketplace sellers listing copies. Collectors use library tools and ISBN search; sellers use verified selling flows.

Good fit

  • New releases and backlist you want collectors to find by ISBN and edition.
  • Corrections to publisher name, imprint, title, contributors, or format on existing records.
  • Higher-quality front covers to replace angled, lifestyle, or low-resolution images.

2. How submissions work today

Catalog intake for publishers is invite- and partnership-based. After you contact us, we agree on scope, formats, and cover delivery, then ingest titles into the catalog for review.

Depending on your setup, we may work from ONIX or similar metadata feeds, a structured title list (CSV or spreadsheet), an official catalog or RSS source, or a curated batch of title records with cover files. We do not publish a general partner portal or open upload form at this time.

What to expect

  • A short intake email and follow-up if the catalog fit is clear.
  • Guidance on preferred file formats and cover packaging for your batch.
  • Internal review for edition identity, duplicates, and cover quality before titles go live.

3. Get started

Email mail@2manybooks.com with the subject line “Publisher submission.” Include enough context for us to evaluate fit without a long deck.

Include in your first message

  • Publisher or imprint name, country, and website.
  • Whether you are sending new titles, a backlist slice, or cover/metadata corrections.
  • Approximate title count and languages.
  • Preferred delivery: ONIX/feed URL, spreadsheet, or file package.
  • A sample of 3–10 titles with ISBNs if you have them ready.
  • A contact name and the best email for catalog follow-ups.

4. Prepare bibliographic data

2manybooks is edition-aware. Collectors match physical copies, so ISBN, format, and imprint matter more than a loose title-only row.

Fields that help most

  • ISBN-13 (and ISBN-10 when printed on the book).
  • Title and subtitle as they appear on the edition.
  • Authors and other credited contributors.
  • Publisher / imprint name as used on the colophon.
  • Publication date or year, place of publication when known.
  • Format (hardcover, paperback, etc.), page count, language, and series if applicable.
  • A short description when you have rights to share it.

5. Cover requirements

Catalog covers should be flat, front-facing product images — the same standard our ingest pipeline uses when grading covers. Angled, standing, spine-visible, or lifestyle shots are rejected and must be replaced; we do not “fix” a 3D photo into a flat cover.

Aim for crisp resolution suitable for browsing and detail views. As a practical target, prefer images whose shorter edge is at least about 900px and longer edge at least about 1200px. Soft phone photos, heavy compression, and incomplete crops slow review.

Do

  • Supply a full front cover, square-on, with title and design fully visible.
  • Use the correct cover for that ISBN / binding / printing.
  • Keep type and critical artwork inside the frame; avoid aggressive crops that cut words.
  • Prefer clean edges and a neutral background if the cover does not already fill the frame.
  • Send lossless or high-quality JPEG/PNG (or a clearly named set of files tied to ISBN).

6. Covers to avoid

These fail our cover quality bar and will need a flat replacement before they can serve as the catalog image.

Do not send as the primary cover

  • Angled, three-quarter, or standing book shots with a visible spine plane.
  • 3D renders, mockups with perspective, or staged lifestyle photography.
  • Back covers, interiors, or detail crops used instead of the full front.
  • Screenshots, watermarks that obscure design, or images with heavy letterboxing that crops into the artwork.
  • Low-resolution thumbnails or images where the short edge is under a few hundred pixels.

7. After you write us

If we proceed, we will confirm delivery details, ingest the batch, and resolve edition conflicts or duplicate ISBNs with you when needed. Live titles then become findable for collectors scanning and cataloging their libraries.

We cannot commit to every request. Clear ISBN coverage, flat covers, and a defined scope make evaluation faster. For general partnership topics outside catalog intake, see Get in Touch; for media, use Press.

Collectors adding owned books should use Documentation and library tools, not this page. Marketplace rules live in the Terms of Service.
