Baba of Karo

Published in 1954, Baba of Karo is an anthropological record of the Hausa people compiled by Mary F. Smith. The work is based on the oral autobiography of Baba, the daughter of a Hausa farmer and Koranic teacher who lived from 1877 to 1951. Smith translated these accounts to document the cultural history and personal experiences of the Hausa community.
