Brandon LaBelle

Brandon LaBelle is an American sound artist and theorist whose research has significantly influenced the field of sound studies. Since 2011, he has served as a professor of New Media Art at the University of Bergen. He is the author of foundational texts including Background Noise: Perspectives on Sound Art and Acoustic Territories: Sound Culture and Everyday Life, the latter of which was featured in David Byrne’s curated collection for the 2019 Meltdown Festival.
