Chris Pape

Chris Pape is an American painter and graffiti artist who began tagging subway cars and tunnels in 1974 under the pseudonym Freedom. He is best known for his extensive mural work within Manhattan's Freedom Tunnel, including his self-portrait and a parody of Coca-Cola advertising. Beyond his murals, Pape documented the lives of the homeless population residing within the tunnel and created black and silver recreations of classical art pieces.
