Conceptual Art

Conceptual art, or conceptualism, is an art movement that prioritizes ideas and concepts over traditional aesthetic, technical, or material concerns. In this practice, planning and decision-making occur before execution, which is often treated as a perfunctory step. As defined by Sol LeWitt, the idea itself functions as a machine that produces the art, and some works may be constructed by anyone following written instructions.
