David Baker

David Nathaniel Baker Jr. was an American jazz composer, conductor, and musician based in Indianapolis. A prominent educator, he founded the jazz studies program at the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music and served as the artistic director for the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. Over his career, he authored 70 books and 400 articles while contributing to more than 65 recordings.
