David D. Laitin

David D. Laitin is an American political scientist and the James T. Watkins IV and Elise V. Watkins Professor of Political Science at Stanford University. A scholar of comparative politics, he focuses on civil war, ethnic identity, culture, and nationalism. He is recognized for his research on ethnic conflict and his efforts to bridge the gap between ethnographic study and rational choice theory.
