Elisabeth Real

Elisabeth Real was a prominent businesswoman and one of the first European settler women in the French colony of Louisiana. She managed a merchant company by proxy and later in her own name after 1740, while also operating a successful boarding house. She is identified as the historical figure associated with the building known as Madame John's Legacy in the French Quarter of New Orleans.
