Eugene Braunwald
Eugene Braunwald is an American cardiologist born in Vienna, Austria. He served as the founding Chair of the Department of Medicine at the University of California, San Diego, and later joined the faculty at Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. With over 1,000 peer-reviewed publications, he is widely recognized for his research on heart disease and as the editor of the textbook Braunwald's Heart Disease.
