Henry Fielding

Henry Fielding (1707–1754) was an English writer and judge recognized for his satirical humor. Often cited as a founder of the traditional English novel, he authored works including Joseph Andrews, The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling, and Amelia. Beyond his literary career as a novelist and playwright, Fielding served as a magistrate and founded the Bow Street Runners, London's first professional police force.
