Irving Louis Horowitz

Irving Louis Horowitz (1929–2012) was an American sociologist, author, and academic. He is recognized for proposing a quantitative index to measure a country's quality of life and for helping to popularize the term Third World to describe the poorer nations of the Non-Aligned Movement. His professional career encompassed roles as a university teacher and political scientist.
