Ishmael Reed
Ishmael Reed is an American poet, novelist, essayist, songwriter, and playwright born in 1938. Known for his satirical approach to American political culture, his work frequently highlights neglected African and African-American perspectives. He is perhaps best recognized for his 1972 novel Mumbo Jumbo, a sprawling and unorthodox narrative set in 1920s New York.
