Jesper Hoffmeyer

Jesper Hoffmeyer (1942–2019) was a Danish biologist and a leading figure in the field of biosemiotics. A professor at the University of Copenhagen, he served as president of the International Society for Biosemiotic Studies and co-edited the journal Biosemiotics. He authored several influential works, including Biosemiotics: An Examination into the Signs of Life and the Life of Signs and Signs of Meaning in the Universe.
