Jim Downs
Jim Downs is an American historian and the Gilder Lehrman-National Endowment for the Humanities Professor of Civil War Studies and History at Gettysburg College. He holds a PhD from Columbia University and studied medical anthropology, global health, and epidemiology at Harvard University. A 2025 Guggenheim Fellow, Downs previously earned degrees from the University of Pennsylvania and Columbia University.
