Jimmie Durham

Jimmie Durham was an American sculptor, essayist, and poet. Active in the civil rights movements of the 1960s and 1970s, he served on the central council of the American Indian Movement before focusing on his art career in New York City. His work has been exhibited internationally, and he received the 2019 Golden Lion for lifetime achievement at the 58th Venice Biennale, among other honors.
