John W.

John Wood Campbell Jr. (1910–1971) was an American science fiction writer and editor who played a significant role in the Golden Age of Science Fiction. He served as the editor of Astounding Science Fiction from 1937 until his death and authored works under his own name as well as pseudonyms including Don A. Stuart. His 1938 novella Who Goes There? served as the basis for multiple film adaptations, including The Thing from Another World and The Thing.
