Kritovoulos

Michael Critobulus was a Greek politician, scholar, and historian active during the fifteenth century. He is best known for his historical account of the Ottoman conquest of the Eastern Roman Empire under Sultan Mehmet II. His work remains a primary source for the study of the Fall of Constantinople in 1453, alongside the writings of contemporaries such as Doukas, Laonicus Chalcondyles, and George Sphrantzes.
