Les Payne
Les Payne was an American journalist who served as an editor and columnist at Newsday and co-founded the National Association of Black Journalists. He was a Pulitzer Prize recipient for investigative reporting in 1974. Alongside his daughter Tamara Payne, he authored the biography The Dead Are Arising: The Life of Malcolm X, which earned the 2020 National Book Award for Nonfiction and the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Biography.
