Martin J. Rees

Martin J. Rees is a British cosmologist and astrophysicist born in 1942. He served as the fifteenth Astronomer Royal from 1995 to 2025, Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, and President of the Royal Society. His career includes significant contributions to high-energy astrophysics and cosmology, for which he was awarded the Wolf Prize in Physics in 2024.
