Mel Bochner

Melvin Simon Bochner (1940–2025) was an American conceptual artist and a foundational figure in the development of contemporary art. He is widely recognized for his 1966 exhibition, Working Drawings And Other Visible Things On Paper Not Necessarily Meant To Be Viewed As Art, which is cited as one of the first conceptual art exhibitions globally. His diverse practice spanned painting, photography, illustration, sculpture, and writing.
