Michael Asher
Michael Max Asher (1943–2012) was an American conceptual artist recognized as a foundational figure in the practice of Institutional Critique. Rather than creating traditional art objects, he focused on altering existing environments by repositioning or removing architectural elements and artworks to challenge the assumptions governing art perception. His work explored the institutional frameworks that shape how viewers experience art.
