Michael W. Smith is a professor at the Temple University College of Education. Following eleven years as a high school English teacher, he transitioned to higher education, where his research focuses on adolescent literacy and reading motivation. He has authored eight books and monographs, including the award-winning Reading Don’t Fix No Chevys, and has contributed extensively to various academic journals in the field of literacy research.
