Ovid

Publius Ovidius Naso, known as Ovid, was a prominent Roman poet who lived during the reign of Augustus. Often ranked alongside Virgil and Horace as a canonical figure of Latin literature, he is recognized as the final Latin love elegist. Despite his significant popularity, Ovid spent the final decade of his life in exile in Tomis after being banished by the emperor for reasons he described only as a carmen et error.
