Philippe de Montebello

Philippe de Montebello is a French-American museum director who served as the director of the Metropolitan Museum of Art from 1977 to 2008. Upon his retirement, he held the title of the institution's longest-serving director. Since 2009, he has served as the inaugural Fiske Kimball Professor in the History and Culture of Museums at New York University's Institute of Fine Arts.
