Publius Vergilius Maro

Publius Vergilius Maro was an ancient Roman poet active during the Augustan period. He is best known for composing three major works of Latin literature: the Eclogues, the Georgics, and the epic Aeneid. While a collection of minor poems known as the Appendix Vergiliana was historically attributed to him, modern scholars generally consider these works to be spurious.
