Robion C. Kirby

Robion C. Kirby is a professor of mathematics at the University of California, Berkeley, specializing in low-dimensional topology. He is recognized for developing the Kirby–Siebenmann invariant and establishing the Kirby calculus for describing 3-manifolds and 4-manifolds. Throughout his career, he has mentored over 50 doctoral students and serves as the editor of a prominent mathematical problem list.
