Shigeko Kubota

Shigeko Kubota was a Japanese video artist, sculptor, and performance artist who spent much of her career in New York City. A key member of the Fluxus movement, she was among the first artists to utilize the Sony Portapak camera, which she famously described as a new paintbrush. Her work is characterized by sculptural installations featuring embedded monitors and a distinctive DIY aesthetic.
