Sir Oliver Millar

Sir Oliver Millar was a British art historian and a recognized expert on 17th-century British painting, with a specialization in the work of Anthony van Dyck. He held a long career within the Royal Household, serving as Surveyor of The Queen's Pictures from 1972 and becoming the first Director of the Royal Collection in 1987. He remained in these roles until his retirement in 1988.
