Sonia Sanchez
Sonia Sanchez is an American poet, playwright, and professor who emerged as a leading figure in the Black Arts Movement. She has authored over a dozen poetry collections, including her 1969 debut Homecoming, alongside works of fiction, essays, and children's literature. A member of The Wintergreen Women Writers Collective, Sanchez has received the Robert Frost Medal and a Pew Fellowship in the Arts for her contributions to American poetry.
