Victor D. LaValle
Victor D. LaValle is an American author born in 1972. His bibliography includes the short-story collection Slapboxing with Jesus and novels such as The Ecstatic, Big Machine, The Devil in Silver, The Changeling, and Lone Women. His novella The Ballad of Black Tom received the 2016 Shirley Jackson Award. Beyond his fiction, LaValle has contributed essays and reviews to publications including GQ, Essence, The Fader, and The Washington Post.
