Viviana A. Zelizer

Viviana A. Zelizer is an American sociologist and the Lloyd Cotsen '50 Professor of Sociology at Princeton University. Her research in economic sociology explores how cultural and moral meanings are attributed to economic transactions, particularly regarding the valuation of the sacred in contexts like life insurance and intimate relationships. She is a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and the American Philosophical Society.
