W. Terrence Gordon

Gordon Parks was an American photographer, composer, author, poet, and filmmaker who rose to prominence in documentary photojournalism between the 1940s and 1970s. His work frequently addressed civil rights, poverty, and the African American experience, notably through his photographic essays for Life magazine. As a director, he is recognized for films including The Learning Tree, Shaft, and Shaft's Big Score.
