William Adlington

William Adlington was an English translator active during the Elizabethan era. He is best known for his 1566 translation of Apuleius' Metamorphoses, titled The Golden Ass, which served as a source for Shakespeare. Little is known of his personal life, and his potential authorship of other works remains a subject of historical debate.
