Woodcut

Woodcut is a relief printing technique in which an artist carves an image into the surface of a wood block using gouges. By cutting along the wood grain, the artist leaves printing parts level with the surface while removing non-printing areas. Ink is applied to the raised surface using a roller, which is then transferred to create the final print.
