Signs: Type Specimen

A 16-page specimen presenting Signs, a modern sans serif from Maximage. Designed by Marietta Eugster in collaboration with Maximage and Åbäke, the collectible publication pairs images sourced from the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards broadcast with bold typographic compositions. Printed offset in four PMS colors using an overprint process on waste paper, each copy in the edition of 350 is subtly unique and comes housed in a clear PVC sleeve. Signs draws on mid-twentieth-century architectural signage. Comprising eight weights from Thin to Black, the family balances angular counters with curved exterior forms for clarity and visual impact—equally sharp at close range and commanding from a distance.
