The photographs made by Luigi Tazzari in his new book 'Mare d'inverno' differ from his is previous production in that they are less explicit, this time in fact they distance themselves from the previous knowledge of the place, they initially take away from the viewer any useful element to the geographical location of the landscape. The area photographed is one that the author has documented several times throughout his career, on this occasion, however, it is difficult to recognize. Only after a gradual unraveling does the identification of codifiable elements become possible. Tazzari puts us in a visual condition in which the horizon line and the whiteness of the image become the predominant elements. These huge expanses of snow contrasting with the grayness of the sky suggest an Arctic landscape. Initially no form is perceived, no human presence, then some geometric elements surface, suggesting human intervention, but his figure buys into one image. Little by little the clues increase, leading one to recognize in the mysterious landscape the traces of those Romagna beaches that Tazzari explored extensively.
