Founded in 1980 by editor V. Vale in San Francisco, RE/Search Publications emerged as the successor to the punk fanzine Search & Destroy. The publisher is known for producing tabloid-sized magazines and books that documented various countercultural movements throughout the 1980s and 1990s. Its catalog explored diverse subcultural topics, including body modification, third-wave feminism, and B movies, with Andrea Juno also serving as an editor on several issues.
