The Most Beautiful Swiss Books 2022: The Producers’ Issue

by

A total of 400 books which appeared in 2022 were entered into the annual competition for a chance to be named among the most beautiful Swiss books. All books were judged by a new jury chaired by Sereina Rothenberger. The designers of this catalogue took inspiration from the materials and technical specifications of the winning books and in turn decontextualised them. The pages, endpapers, cover materials, and embossing acknowledge and pay tribute to specific forms of production expertise. And in her accompanying essay, Stella Carlsen provides context and perspective to her calculation of the catalogue’s carbon footprint, rather than a judgement on its production. 98 pages, 21 x 29 cm, hardcover, Federal Office Of Culture Bern (Bern).
